Project Description

This project explores an intersection between DNA testing of black Americans and bodies of water. Saline is the bookwork of this piece and is the major feature of the installation. Before the reader understands the content, they are asked to dissolve a page of the book in a plexiglass box of salt water. Upon further look, Saline addresses the intentionally forgotten and unlearned histories of swimming and segregation in the U.S. through a digitally printed and silkscreened dissolvable book.
